Ill disciplined Town well beaten in cup semi-final

The Brotherhood Cup semi-final had initially been staged on 16 February 1935 but had been abandoned. The North Wilts Herald of 22 February 1935 had carried the following report and reason for the abandonment:

The Brotherhood Cup semi-final at Purton on Saturday between Wootton Bassett Town and Swindon Ferndale Athletic was abandoned 20 minutes before the end on account of the severe conditions and because one of the Athletic players, Kembrey, was seized with cramp. Mr L. Marsh was the referee. Ferndale Athletic who had the wind in their favour during the first half, led by one goal, scored early in the game by G. Sawyer.

The report for the re-staged game was somewhat shorter and referred to ill discipline in the Town ranks.

In the semi-final round of the Swindon Brotherhood Competition the Town team met Ferndale Athletic on Saturday at Shaw. During the second half F.C.W. Drury, one of the Town's full backs, received "marching orders". The Athletic, who were much the better team, won by 9 goals to 1. F. Perry scored for Wootton Bassett.
