Magnificent Seven for U13 Blues

Bassett claimed their third successive win with a resounding 7-2 away victory over Highworth Town Juniors T in an exciting cup encounter featuring a first Bassett goal for Amir Sakiru, a brace from Charlie Booker and a third successive hat trick from Alex Greenouff

Bassett started the game strongly and looked an attacking threat right from the start. Aleks Goralczyk shone particularly brightly demonstrating considerable guile to get behind the Highworth defence and then shortly after hitting a powerful strike from distance.

Most of the action came at the Highworth end and it wasn't long before Bassett took the lead. The ball fell kindly for striker Booker who drove the ball low under the Highworth goalkeeper who had no chance.

Bassett doubled the lead after Jasper Bianco was able to shrug off the Highworth defence and squeeze the ball to Greenouff who made no mistake for his opening goal. Shortly after Greenouff turned provider lobbing the 'keeper and allowing Booker to tap in from close range.

Bassett were rampant at this point. Toby Buck capped a mesmeric run down the left wing with a world class left footed cross than Greenouff was able to volley in for his second to make the score 4-0

Bassett looked secure at this point with the experienced and ever dependable Connor Iles taking up a position in defence for the game and Bassett looked seldom troubled.

It was somewhat surprising and against the run of play that Highworth scored 2 late first half goals which Charlie Davis had no chance to save. Highworth had surprisingly given themselves some hope with the score 4-2 at half time

The score remained 4-2 for the first half of the second period. Sakiru showed excellent pace but Bassett were unable to breakdown the Highworth defence and the half remained an even affair.

Following a range of substitutions the game finally turned firmly in Bassetts favour. Goralczyk went from guile to goal with a crisply struck left footed strike from distance.

Sakiru looked to have secured his first goal for the club with a blistering break past the Highworth defence that was well saved by the 'keeper but the rebound was swept home by Greenouff for his third goal. Greenouff soon repaid the favour with a poked cross that Sakiru was able to resoundingly strike past the 'keeper resulting in euphoric celebration

Back on top Bassett could have had more, Greenouff hit the bar late and Goralczyk had a couple of strikes from distance.

For the majority of the game Bassett dominated - and were worthy winners. Supporters Player of the Match was Ewan McGeachie for his excellent defensive performance. Amir Sakiru claimed Coaches' Player of the Match for his excellent first club goal.
