We began working the ball well, with some good movement between Sid and Raisham, resulting in a Shot from Raisham which tipped the wood (or Plastic!!) Our heads were high and we were looking good. Nav and Liam were firm in defence, giving Lewis time to consider his movement and make some precise saves when the attack broke through. Callum eyed a break in Highworth's defence, charging through took a long shot, which rebounded out from the goalies touch. Sid read the game well, positioning himself perfectly and popped the ball in. 1- 0 We had some more great tackles, however it seemed we all wanted it a bit too much for ourselves rather than for the team. More of that fantastic and precise passing along with finding our voices would have opened up more opportunities. We battled on with the ball in our possession for the majority of the first half, but not quite forcefully enough to break down their defences. We had some great shots which were on target, but credit to Highworth goalie he was on form. Highworth had a corner, which resulted in a scramble in the goal mouth. They scored a goal but it was by no means a great entertainer! 1- 1 HALF TIME We came back looking as determined as ever with our heads high. Our passing was back on form with some exciting opportunities created between Kai, Callum, Sid, James and Raisham. Defence was fatiguing for Korben, Nav and Liam. Highworth were relentless in their attack and Lewis made lots of wonderful saves, much to the home crowd's annoyance. Raisham had a few more breaks – if the goal was a little red X on the cross bar he would have had a hat trick today! Callum, Kai, Sid and James also had many shots. Some needed an extra touch, some needed a stronger lace through, some were wide and some where high. The second half was not in our favour, ending the game 4-1 down. In team spirit Wootton Bassett could not have wanted more. Next game lets get it working smoother, quicker and we can do it.
