WOOTTON BASSETT YELLOWS V CROFT BLUE 11.09.12 ATTENDANCE 20,000 The whistle blew and we were off, no time for pleasantries, fifty seconds gone and Callum had bagged a goal. 1-0 A spirit lifting start. Croft tried hard to restrain us, but to no avail. The game was all ours. When shots were made Sid sprung out in all directions saving with ease. Midfield to up front combination worked well, with some fantastic, precise passes between Callum, Kai and Raisham. Raisham passed to Callum who took a shot at goal. The goalie fumbled slightly and the ball trickled in. 2-0 . We edged off slightly whilst relishing the lead. Croft seized the opportunity and put some pressure back on. 2-1 Lewis retrieved the ball from Croft, heading up pitch he saw a clearing took a hard chip, the crowd roared, but unfortunately it tipped the crossbar and went over. Robbie tried to follow suit with a close shot, which was just edged out by Croft defence. HALF TIME A long half time talk and we were chomping at the bit. Robbie had a battle with defence and broke through with a shot, which came straight back out. Callum picked it up and fired it back to the goalie, who returned it once more to Callum. With no hesitation Callum forced it into the net. HAT TRICK !!!! 3-1 Korben and Nav's defence was stout throughout. Korben (me and my shadow) would not leave his players room to breath, with a constant grin on his face it was a tactic that worked well as the Croft players began to wave hands in the air with frustration. Nav's judgement and awareness of the game was mature and a credit it to him. He informed his team when and where the ball was going, when to leave it and when to chase. Sid was bounding with energy, passing, pacing and even celebrating a goal that was not quite a goal. This uplifting attitude made Wootton Bassett a pleasure to watch. Kai pushed on relentlessly, alongside Callum, Raisham, Sid and Robbie with constant runs and shots. A well deserved win to the Wootton Bassett Yellows. Let's hope it's the first of many. Based on tonight's performance they will deserve it.
