27 Nov 2011 - ASC Youth (A)

This weekend saw us travel to Broad Town to take on ASC Youth.

We started brightly on a pitch that was wide and needed mowing. Within the first couple of minutes Joe headed home after great work down the left wing.

ASC seemed to sort themselves out after this set back and the match was being battled out in Midfield. Both teams playing some good passing football. Billy was unlucky when his crafted volley bounced over the bar.

ASC equalised after a great run down the left beat our defence and the resulting shot flew into the net, it was a goal that you had to applaud.

The second half saw Bassett on top, James was unlucky to have his shot ruled not to have crossed the line. Luke, in his debut played really well down the right, and was causing real problems for ASC, then we had some bad fortune , James T in goal pulled a muscle in his leg and although he had bravely endured for 30 minutes, we needed a change. Nat stepped up and took the gloves, Luke moved into defence where he and Charlie looked solid. Chas was causing ASC havoc in midfield and was really unlucky not to score after some great skill down the right resulted in a great shot that took a good keeper to stop.

Finally we got our rewards when Joe smashed in a loose rebound, 2-1 with 4 minutes left.

ASC weren't beaten yet though and really put the pressure on, and it took two to top class saves and a bit of gymnastics from Nat to keep the ball out of our goal. So the final whistle at 2-1 good win, but more importantly a good performance.
