Return of Dart helps Bassett start New Year with a win

Two games to report on since Christmas have seen us maintain our position at the top of the league with an away win at Cirencester Utd 4-1 and a home win to Banbury 2-1 enabling us to complete league doubles over both of the said teams.

The game at Cirencester saw the return of Keith Dart after injury on a pitch that was very boggy but we took the game to them straight from the start and after several chances had gone begging Sid gave us the lead after Roy somehow managed to blast the ball against the post from two yards out.

The score remained this at half time and further goals from Hammo, Hawks and a Ben Jarrett penalty gave us an easy victory which could and should have been even greater but for the usual mixture of poor finishing.

It was pleasing to see Hawks at last get on the scoresheet and not save his shooting boots just for Sunday's.
