Our last match saw us travel to 3rd in the table Highworth for a top of the table clash, with several regulars missing through injury it was going to be a severe test.

We couldn't have made a worst start to the game conceding a goal after only 35 seconds and Oliver Kahn lookalike Millsy's first touch was to pick the ball out of the net.

We kept our composure and slowly worked our way into the game and were rewarded with an equalizer after 40 minutes from a good strike from Sid after a fine move to make the half time score 1-1.

The second half saw us take the game to Highworth and some of the football we played was the best we've played this season and following another excellent move a shot from Pete Cahill was deflected over the keepers head to put us in front.

With only 10 minutes to go a rash challenge from Stew Hemsley led to Highworth levelling from the resulting penalty and then two good saves from Millsy kept the score level.

We then replaced debutant Mark King who had a fine game with the returning tax dodger Harkit Sandu and his entrance was immediate when a stunning 60 yard past from Stew Hemsley found him in space and his first time volley from 25 yards sailed over the head of the keeper to put us back in front.

Harry nearly scored a second but his header from Justin's cross came back of the post but we held out for a fantastic win and went into xmas with a five point lead at the top of the league.

This was without doubt our best team performance of the season and the performance of Stew Hemsley who made one mistake in the whole of the match was in my opinion awesome and it is now unfortunate that our next game is not until the 24th of January as the ugly head of reserve team fixtures comes back to haunt us once again.

HAPPY NEW YEAR and lets hope we can keep in the title race till the end of the season.
