Bassett edge a cracking game

Wow, where do I start with this one, Bassett under 8's travelled to Cirencester to play Stratton Youth and what a game this one turned out to be, totally different to the other ones they have played in the past few weeks.

With a giant sloping pitch Bassett started off running up hill in the first half and what a job that was in its-self, we were totally asleep and in the first 2 mins Stratton scored and kept scoring until the score line read 4 -0 to them with their players running down hill and their no 4 and no 10 running the show for the time being we found it hard work ,but wait we scored just before half time to make the score 4-1 to them and they deserved it.

2nd half different story, then came Bassett that we all knew from the previous games came to life and what a transformation that was, Aaron Oakley who ran and ran (who's dad Ian who is in Kuwait with the forces will be reading this when on the web page)scored 4 goals for his efforts and the winner, along side him was Jack Brain whilst carrying a small injury carried on running and scored as well.

Joe Whiteley and Harry Hazzard came to life at the back and all looked ok again normal service resumes with those two. Jake Woodley was on the side lines for most of the game and when he came on he missed by a couple of inches which would have been a great finish by him.

The rest of the team worked hard and with Ryan Amos also scoring it was a great team effort from James the keeper who's kicks are improving every week (thanks to his dad) right down to Jake Matthews and Tyler Amos.

Scorers: Oakley 4, Brain 1, R Amos 1,

Team Painter, Whiteley, Hazzard, R Amos, T Amos, Brain, Oakley, Matthews, Woodley.
