Disciplined performance secures the points

Wootton Bassett under 18's travelled to Warminster Town in the Wiltshire FA Floodlight League and deservedly secured all three points.

Matty Bowns well taken volley on the edge of the box rifled into the Warminster net to put the visitors one goal up midway through the first half. Lee Jones was outstanding in the middle of the park for Bassett and continued to create a number of scoring opportunities for the front men who somehow failed to get their second before the break.

In the second half Warminster started brightly and were rewarded with an early goal to put them level. Bassett continued to soak up some early pressure with fine defensive displays by Cluett, Yeardley and Mills. Steve Bizley in the Bassett goal made a number of key saves and made things look easy with his safe hands in and around the 6yrd box. The young Bassett team then started to really dominate the game and were rewarded with a penalty midway through the second half. Robbie Harris stepped up to take the spot kick and gave the Warminster keeper no chance. Paul and Dean Stonehouse were a constant threat and continued to frustrate the Warminster defensive who as a result gave away their second penalty of the night. A confident Dean Stonehouse calmly struck the ball in the roof of the net to secure all three points for the Bassett team.

Les Gill, Wootton Bassett Town Team Manager said " We have a fantastic squad of players who really work hard at training and want to play the game the way it should be played. Tonight's disciplined team performance resulted in all 3points and underlines the progress they have all made since the summer ".
