Bassett back to winning ways

After a disappointing result against title contenders Devizes Town, Wootton Bassett got back to winning ways and secured all three points with a 2-0 win at Pewsey Vale. The dominant front line of Robbie Harris and Dean Stonehouse caused Pewsey Vale all sorts of problems throughout the first half. First half goals by Robbie Harris and Paul Stonehouse ensured the visitors went in at half time 2 goals up.

After the break Pewsey upped a gear resulting in the second half being closer encounter. On a very difficult surface both teams played some excellent football in the middle of the park creating opportunities for both sides. Pewsey continued to press but outstanding defensive work by Yeardley, McCurroch and Mills restricted the home sides opportunities. Bassett weathered the storm and regained full control of the game and once again maintained possession in the middle of the park. Jarrett and Stonehouse worked tirelessly throughout the game and Jones, Bown and Sheehan continued to create many opportunities for the Bassett front men.

Wootton Bassett Town Youth Manager Les Gill said, " we fully deserved the win and extremely pleased with the way the players approached the game especially after the disappointing defeat at Devizes Town. Although Pewsey put us under pressure early in the second period I felt we always looked in control of the game and remained very dangerous in and around the Pewsey penalty box"
