In a thoroughly entertaining game, Bassett and Melksham shared the points in the opening league fixture of the season. This was an excellent result for Bassett against one of the strongest sides in the league and it could have been so much better if Harris' Beckham style free-kick into the top corner had not been disallowed for a push on the Melksham wall. An encouraging first game for the new management team of Les Gill and Derrick Reilly, the latter already having obtained cult status with the Bassett fans!
