Bassett set for Women’s County Cup final this Sunday!

Sunday 12th April 2026

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Women's First Team aim to claim silverware - and spring a surprise - this Sunday (19 April) when they face Swindon Town in the Wiltshire County Women's Cup final.

The game takes place at Melksham Town's Meads of Melksham Community Stadium, 2pm kick off.

It promises to be an entertaining final - so please do come along and give Bassett your support!

In Bassett's fifth appearance in the County Cup final, they will be gunning for their second title as they seek both league and cup honours this season.

Yet they face the toughest test possible in the form of a Swindon side who ply their trade two levels higher - and who are also aiming for a league and cup double of their own having enjoyed a stellar season in the tier four FA Women's National League Division One South West.

Both sides have enjoyed straightforward paths to the final.

Bassett's journey began with a 11-1 home win against Wiltshire Senior League side Calne Town before an 11-0 quarter final victory against Highworth Town and 6-0 semi final triumph against Highworth Under 18s.

Swindon, meanwhile, notched up double figures in their second round tie away at Salisbury (14-0) and quarter final encounter with Corsham Town (19-0) before racking up a 9-0 semi final victory against Bemerton Heath Harlequins.

Bassett are therefore the third tier six side the Robins will face - with James Lally's team hoping to fare much better than Corsham and Bemerton with the trophy on the line.

Bassett have met Swindon in the final before, losing 7-1 in 2013-14. Bassett suffered a 2-0 final defeat against Swindon's Development team in 2017-18 before thrashing Swindon Spitfires 9-0 a season later to get their hands on the county prize for the first time.

Bassett's last final appearance was a 3-0 loss against Warminster Town in 2022-23.

Bassett have since exited the County Cup against Swindon in each of the last two season, losing 2-0 at the semi final stage in 2024-25 after a 6-0 quarter final defeat a year earlier.

Now Bassett will be aiming for an upset at the biggest stage of them all.
