Royal Wootton Bassett Town have been named as the Wiltshire FA Grassroots Club of the Year in the 2022 England Football and McDonald's Grassroots Football Awards.

The club received its prize at an awards ceremony held at Melksham Town's Oakfield Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Bassett received a nomination in the Grassroots Club of the Year category for the club's commitment and dedication to grassroots football and was selected by the Wiltshire FA judging panel as the winner.

The prize is just the latest among numerous accolades that the club and its volunteers have received over the years as part of the FA and Wiltshire FA's annual grassroots awards programmes.

To win the Grassroots Club of the Year is particularly special given it reflects upon the activities of the club as a whole.

Commenting on the prize, chairman Paul Gerrish said: "It was a real honour for the club to receive this award and I'm delighted that we have been named as the 2022 Wiltshire FA Grassroots Club of the Year."

"Huge thanks go to our volunteers, players, members and supporters who have all contributed to this award. The last couple of years have been very challenging for us all. But the ongoing dedication and support that everyone involved with the club has shown has been inspiring."

"Our club is a truly special one to be involved with – and this award is recognition of that."
