Bassett confirm first team management for 2020-21 season

Royal Wootton Bassett Town are pleased to confirm its first team management setup for the 2020-21 season.

While there is still a great deal of uncertainty about when the season will commence, when it does arrive Bassett will head into their Hellenic League Premier Division campaign with familiar faces in the dugout.

Sam Collier, who took over the first team reins in January 2018, will lead Bassett, while he will be assisted once again by Matt Bulman.

Two seasons ago Collier guided Bassett to tenth place - the club's highest ever finish in the national league system. However, the curtailed 2019-20 campaign saw the team occupy a position in the lower bottom half of the table - a result the Bassett boss will be seeking to improve upon.

In order to achieve that, the vastly experienced Tom Jones will be joining the management team in a coaching capacity. The former Swindon Town midfielder most recently worked as an assistant at Highworth Town, while he spent more than a decade as number two to Collier's father Mark at Swindon Supermarine and Chippenham Town.

On top of climbing the table, it is hoped that young players will continue to gain valuable first team experience next season, as was the case in 2019-20.

And the aim is to continue to forge stronger links with Bassett's Development and Under 18 Floodlit League sides in order to further improve the pathway from youth to senior football.
