Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 13 Yellows dominated all who came before them in the 2016/17 season, dropping just three points on their way to the North Wilts League Division Four crown.

Capable of scoring at will, Bassett had five players reach double figures for the season and scored three or fewer goals just twice throughout their campaign.

And they set the tone for the rest of the season from the off.

An opening day trip to Lydiard Youth Black yielded a 5-2 victory before Castle Combe Black were thumped 15-2 in s game which saw Harry Collins score five times and Sebastian Turner net a hat-trick.

Bassett's third game of the season saw them crash back down to earth as they fell 4-2 away at Fairford Town Youth, despite Collins netting a brace.

However normal order was soon resumed as Turner scored six and Tristan McKay and Samuel Osei Bonsu both netted three-timers in a 17-0 home win against Wroughton Youth White.

After a narrow 3-1 victory away at Lydiard Millicent Juniors Green, the goalfests continued with a 9-0 thumping of Liden Community White and 16-4 thrashing of Blunsdon.

The pace slowed somewhat – albeit not by much – as revenge was gained over Fairford (6-2) and Malmesbury Youth Falcons were defeated (6-0). Liden Community White were then beaten 9-1 with Turner scoring four and Osei Bonsu three.

After ten games, the team had racked up an astonishing eleven hat-tricks!

Bassett had two games in January – against Malmesbury and Castle Combe – awarded to them.

That inevitable layoff meant they weren't at their goalscoring best when they resumed play with a trip to Wroughton. But Osei Bonsu bagged a brace, while Turner and Samuel Case also scored in a 4-2 triumph.

The title was then theirs after McKay and Osei Bonsu scored twice in a 6-1 victory at home against Lydiard Youth.

With the pressure now off, Bassett could go out and truly express themselves in their final pair of games.

And Osei Bonsu scored hat-tricks in both games - to make it five for the season (including one double hat-trick) – as Lydiard Millicent (6-1) and Blunsdon (10-2) were comfortably seen off.
