Peasedown Fail At Home

Peasedown gave a disappointing display to lose their first home match of the season. They had plenty of opportunities but there was very little cohesion in the forward line. After missing an early opportunity, Peasedown found themselves in arrears after 15 minutes when centre-forward Lehane went through unopposed to score.

Within a few minutes the home defence blundered again and Lehane found it easy to tap the ball into an empty net. Peasedown had paid dearly for being too casual, but within a short while they had reduced the arrears through Chivers, and although they remained on top up to the interval, they missed several good chances to equalise. It was a fine effort by Sansum, in the visitors' goal, which prevented Butler from scoring.

Peasedown were still doing most of the attacking in the second half, but the forwards were not combining and more often than not played into the hands of their opponents' defence. Foster drew applause for a shot which flew just over the Wootton Bassett crossbar, and when Allen eventually scored, Peasedown had their hopes raised. But they failed to improve on their score, and when Lawrence scored with the best shot of the match, Peasdown's chance of saving the game had faded.
