Bassett lose narrowly in thriller at Nurstead Road

In one of the most thrilling games seen at Nurstead Road this season Devizes snatched a narrow 3-2 win over Wootton Bassett in a Wilts League match on Monday evening. It was a brilliant victory for the home side as they faced a two goal deficit 20 minutes from the end. Then in a grand comeback three goals were scored in a 15 minute spell the first two coming in as many minutes. Wootton Bassett easily took first half honours and they deservedly went ahead after 25 minutes through Smith. Devizes were in further trouble 15 minutes after the interval when Skull scored a second goal for Wootton Bassett. Clifton's brilliance defied all Devizes efforts until the 70th minute when Vaughan reduced the arrears in a goalmouth melee. The same player equalised one minute later and the winner came from the left winger Cook. Devizes have now gained maximum points from 7 games in 15 days.
