In order to climb their way up the Hellenic League Premier Division table, Royal Wootton Bassett Town need to win games. But to win games, they need to score goals - something that they continue to struggle to do.
For the fourth straight match - and the fifth time in six October outings, Bassett were blanked against Longlevens. That was despite playing for the best part of 50 minutes with a man advantage.
And, courtesy of Lewis Driscoll's well taken 12th minute goal, Bassett fell to a third straight Hellenic League Premier Divisjpn loss as Longlevens extended their unbeaten run to ten games.
Driscoll would be sent off as half time loomed.
But a stubborn defensive display from Longlevens, coupled with Bassett's continued struggles in front of goal, meant having the extra man failed to yield any dividend - or respite for a team who have reverted back to their early season ways after having seemingly turned the corner in September.
It's the second time already this season Bassett have had a four-game stretch without scoring. And opponents have now kept a clean sheet in eleven of the twenty fixtures Bassett have played in all competitions to date.
Bassett will be hoping to rediscover their scoring boots on Tuesday when they host Malmesbury Victoria in the Wiltshire Premier Shield. The teams played out a goalless draw in the league a fortnight ago. But something must give when they meet in knockout action.
