Pegasus pair downs Bassett

The KGD Stadium, Saturday 3rd October 2026

In an otherwise tight affair, a pair of bookend goals condemned Royal Wootton Bassett Town to a 2-0 defeat away at Hereford Pegasus in the Hellenic League Premier Division.

Having won away at Westfields a fortnight ago, Bassett's latest trip to Hereford saw them come away empty handed on a somewhat frustrating afternoon.

The hosts took the lead in the first minute when Carlos Moreira capitalised on a rare fumble from Josh Sawyer, with the Bassett 'keeper not being helped by the autumn sun.

That would be all that separated the teams for the overwhelming majority of the game.

Bassett were largely on top in the second half but struggled to create meaningful chances.

The visitors' frustrations then started to boil over, leading to a string of yellow cards late on.

That loss of discipline included captain Alfie Presley being sent to the sin bin.

And Pegasus made their temporary extra man count when substitute Jaxson Hundt netted their second on 88 minutes.

The result, combined with wins for both Droitwich Spa and Mangotsfield United, sees Bassett drop back into 17th place in the table.
