A fine goal from Tori Taylor early in the second half earned Royal Wootton Bassett Town a potentially vital 1-0 victory against South West Regional Women's Football League Division One North title rivals Bitton.
The experienced Taylor produced a thunderbolt of a goal - her eighth of the season - from thirty yards out.
And that proved to be the only goal of a tight, tense battle as Bassett held out for their twelfth clean sheet in 17 league games - and sixth in a row.
This was therefore a night where the title race swung partly in Bassett's favour.
However there is still a long way to go.
Four wins from their remaining five games should be enough for Bassett to seal the title (barring a remarkable swing in goal difference).
But those five fixtures - beginning with the visit of Mangotsfield United on Sunday - will all be tough.
Bassett are also due to host Cirencester Town and Bath City - opponents they found the going tough against away from home, with a midweek visit to an improving Stockwood Wanderers and final day trip to Paulton Rovers also on the cards.
At least for now Bitton are playing catch up.
