Royal Wootton Bassett Town's Women's First Team fell to their first defeat of the calendar year as they were beaten 2-0 by Frampton Rangers in friendly action.
Playing opponents from the South West Regional Women's Football League Premier Division, Bassett acquitted themselves well against higher level Frampton.
An evenly contested first half ended with Frampton ahead courtesy of a goal shortly before the interval. It followed a decisive Frampton break with Chloe Timbrell slotting home a rebound after Millie Powell could only parry a cross into the box.
Kelly Jones then added a second midway through the second half, beating Kelly Nightingale who had taken over in goal from Powell.
Although ending in defeat, the game served as a useful exercise for Adam Wood's side who are next due in action on Sunday 7 April in their final league fixture at home against Shaftesbury. A home Divisional Cup quarter final against either Stockwood Wanderers or Ilminster Town is also due to be arranged.
