Wootton Bassett Blue v Liden Green

Wootton Bassett U13 Blue 16 – 1 Liden Green

On a big pitch we started strongly keeping the ball and pushing forward quickly. The big pitch suited us as we moved the ball well, passing quickly and keeping possession to exploit the spaces.

Adam scored a first goal when he picked the ball up near the edge of the area and he took a shot which got a small deflection and sailed into the corner.

Liden had a chance to equalize soon after when the Liden player burst through on goal but Dave made a fantastic save as he parried the shot away to safety.

It was then 2-0 when Dan took a snap shot which hit the defender on the line, rebounded back against another Liden player and into the net.

Jack Lancaster came on and within a minute he scored his first of four goals with some quick feet he beat his man and shot across goal into the far corner.

Ollie Case got a goal when he stretched to reach the ball just before the defender from a Billy Saunders corner to make it 4-0.

Dan Ware got his first of five goals when he latched onto a through ball and fired it into the net after some neat work from Billy and Nat.

The half time whistle went and the scoreline was 6-0.

The second half was a similar game. We had more chances as Liden were understandably deflated meaning we were winning the loose balls and playing more good football keeping possession and making them work hard.

Ben Chin got himself onto the scoresheet when he slid the ball under the keeper following another nice move and through ball.

Michael Gilder scored a nice goal when he sailed through two tackles and slid the ball past the keeper.

Freddie also got on the scoresheet near the end with a lovely individual effort. He picked the ball up on half way and pushed forward beating two men and unleashing an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Adam finished the goals when Ollie floated a cross over the defence and Adam smashed it into the net.

In between the goals, Liden scored a cracking goal themselves direct from a free kick which the Liden player took perfectly and found the top corner giving Dave no chance.

Jake Kimber and surprisingly Nathanial and Billy didn't score today but they all had a massive influence on the game as they worked tirelessly disrupting Lidens play and setting up most of the goals between the three of them.
