Comeback Kings

Three second half goals lifted Royal Wootton Bassett Town Reserves to victory against Serum Youth, their 3-1 win avenging for defeat two weeks ago against the Wiltshire League basement dwellers.

For the third home game in succession Royal Wootton Bassett Town Reserves had to come from behind to get a positive result. And in doing so they gained revenge over Sarum Youth who defeated them two weeks ago.

Despite two good chances to gain a lead, Bassett found themselves a goal down at half time after conceding another soft goal.

The enforced introduction of Carl Shepherd and veteran Rich Clark due to injuries and a switch to a 3-5-2 formation gave Bassett more of an attacking threat in the second half, and it was Clark who grabbed the equaliser following a Shepherd knock down.

Bassett continued to dominate possession and were rewarded with a penalty on 65 minutes. Steve Groom's spot kick hit the post, but fortunately for him the ball rebounded to Lewis Tidy who finished brilliantly to give the hosts the lead.

Victory was secured in the final few minutes when Shepherd scored the final goal following good work by Ryan Collins.

The result lifted Bassett into tenth place and they will be looking to continue their good home form on Tuesday when Marlborough Town are the visitors to the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground.
