Thursday 11th September 2008 - Shaw 'A' (A)

Team Bassett won again making this 2 wins out of 2 within a week and at times playing good football on the way. This game was not about the scoreline today, its how they played their football on a difficult pitch, which was slanting and well over due for a cut.

Our passing game was going to be affected with the wingers of Liam and Mani with the long grass and also with the lads minds already set for another 3 points after seeing the scoreline that Shaw had lost 23 nil a few days earlier they thought it was going to be easy, but for the 1st 15 mins that was not the case. Shaw battled well and got stuck in but our passing had not got started but when it did it looked good.

Team Bassett could have and should have been 4 up with in 10 mins but our finnishing was not upto the usual standard and what the strikers need to is to follow up the loose ball instead of thinking that will go in and leaving it.

Callum played well again and beween him and Jake, they got the ball rolling today and with liam on the wing cut in and scored a good power drive in the bottom of the corner with the keeper having no chance at all.

It was a difficult match for the lads today as I have already said, its about putting out their minds the possiable ease of the game but to treat this game no different to the one against Cirencester and then they will suceed more as a unit and team.

Goal of the day was scored by Grant. A 25 yarder freekick, the keeper did not even move it just flew in and shorlthy afterwards Callum did the same with a well worked moved and again it flew in, other goals started to flow and most of them were well worked to bring the scoreline up, it was also good to see Ellis and Nick have another good game.

Overall job done, 2 wins of out of 2, scoring 23 for and none against.
