Bassett beat Swindon Town Ladies

The game started a little late when both sides agreed to play the match on a slightly hard but flat pitch due to overnight frost. From what seemed Swindon's first attack of the game a solo run by Tash Zebroski from the half way line. On this run she beat three Bassett players and finished with a low shot into the bottom left corner to give Swindon an early lead .The next passage of the game seemed a little flat with neither side controlling the game and very few clear chances .Bassett did equalised after 22 mins when Jenna Mcfadzean turned her marker on the half way line which left her with a clear run at goal no mistake tidy finish.

Half Time 1-1

Second half Bassett started more brightly with some slick passing movements and from such a move Bassett took the lead from a fine side foot volley from Alyson Lyons.

The game now was end to end but still no clear cut chances off any note. A moment of controversy in the game came when Swindon took a quick short corner where a shot on goal took a deflection off a Bassett defender and hit the post were it was then hacked away from the goal line with Swindon claiming a goal. The goal was not given with the referee unable to tell if the entire ball had crossed the line. Swindon felt hard done bye and were now pushing hard to get back on level terms and with 8 mins remaining their efforts paid off when a fine strike from distance by Jazz Self beat the Bassett keeper.

From the restart Bassett managed to work the ball into the Swindon area were Joni Warner reacted quickest to a lose ball to fire Bassett back into the lead.

Full Time 3-2

At the end Bassett took the 3 points but a draw would have been a fair result
