Big win over Ramsbury

This week we were up against Ramsbury who had played four and won three, so we were expecting a tough game. We were hoping that the boys would continue on from their good performance last week against Malmesbury.

The boys we really fired up for the game today which were excellent conditions for playing football. After the kick off we soon got stuck in with hard challenges all over the park. We did have a lot of possession and we were passing the ball around very well. Andrew and Charlie Skeates again were very instrumental in midfield. Our first goal came when Ramsbury were attacking, Charlie Skeates put in a very strong tackle in our own half to win the ball and play it through to Andrew who took on a couple of defenders and slotted the ball past the keeper , giving him little chance.

We started to play some excellent football with Charlie Spettigue winning the ball and pushing forward taking on Ramsbury and linking up well with Roo, Kris and Jemil. Ramsbury did have a break away and had a one on one with Jack. Jack was very brave coming out and diving at the feet of the Ramsbury forward. Aaron also made it back to help with the tackle and cleared the ball. We were very strong coming forward and Jemil was also in the action with some very good skillfull play and playing some good passes to Kris. Kris was making some great runs into space which was allowing Roo space for him to travel towards goal. Midway through the first half we were two up, Charlie Skeates turning and slotting the ball home from close range. Ollie came on for Jemil and was soon into action controlling and passing the ball around. Kris had a great chance but good defending by Ramsbury the ball went wide. We finished the half 2-0 up and we were playing magnificent in all areas.

At half time we told the boys that the next goal was important and we must score first.

Into the second half again we were too strong for Ramsbury and winning the ball in every department. We were certainly controlling the game.

The third goal came when the Ramsbury keeper didn't kick the ball very well which landed to Charlie Skeates who kicked the ball first time from 25 yards into the empty net. Ramsbury were trying hard and did break on a few occasions only to be thwarted by Aaron and Charlie Spettigue. We were soon 4-0 up with a long range shot from Roo which was too strong for the keeper to hold and the ball fell at Ollie's feet to score at close range.

The boys were really enjoying themselves and apart from Jack all of the players came off and went back on again. Charlie Spettigue pushed into midfield and was unlucking not to score. He was linking linking up play very well with Jemil who was controlling and passing the ball well. Kris was working very hard and deserved his first competitive goal for the club to make it 5-0. It was hard for the players to keep their shape because many substitutions were made and players were asked to play in different positions. Not surprisingly Ramsbury had a break away and their striker riffled a shot into the goal off the cross bar giving Jack no chance. Roo scored his second with a very well taken long range chip shot over the keeper to make it 6.

Tony and myself were extremely happy in which the boys applied themselves and were magnificent today.

The Man of the Match was very difficult this week because all 8 boys performed very well and it was a pleasure to watch and coach. But it was agreed not only by Tony and myself but by the parents that Aaron Fry would be Man of the Match. Aaron is playing tremendously well and he is a rock in defence. He talks with his fellow defenders and gets into great positions to cancel out any attack. He is very strong and doesn't give the opposition many chances to get past him. Well Done Aaron.
