C Team win the Bassett 'derby'

Today saw us play our 3rd game of the season, a local Derby with high flying top of the table, Wootton Bassett 'B'.

Neil and I were looking for a good performance from the boys after our excellent result last week against Swindon Soccer Skills.

We started well and within the 1st minute, Andrew, with one of his individual runs was unlucky not to put us 1:0 up. The 1st goal soon came when Charlie Skeates picked up an easy tap in. The boys were really playing well. Kris and Ollie were up-front and were causing WB'B' defenders some real problems. Jemil and Arron at the back looked very comfortable and in command, while Jack maintained his confident ball handling.

With the pressure mounting on WB'B', the 2nd goal came after a corner from Andrew found Charlie Skeates, who slotted it in the net, giving him his 2nd goal of the match.

As half-time approached. Max Reynolds for the 'B' tem went past 2 of our players and scored a great individual goal.

Half time : Wootton Bassett 'C' 2 Wootton Bassett 'B' 1

2nd half started with a substitution by WB'C' Charlie Spettigue came on for Jemil, who had given another good performance. Again, this half saw WB'C' well on top and even more focussed, but with Jordan being in outstanding form in goal for WB'B', this kept us at bay.

WB'B's Cameron put a lovely ball through to Bradley who started his run which looked as thought he was on for a 1:1 with Jack, but Aaron managed to get to him and put in a fantastic tackle to end the run.

WB'C' showed great ability at set pieces, particularly corners, where they proved most dangerous. Charlie Skeates crossed the ball from a corner to Andrew who scored from a superb header which rounded off another brilliant performance from him.

Kris was given a well-earned break and was substituted by Tom. Jemil came back on for Ollie. Both Tom and Jemil quickly adapted to their positions and carried on with the pressure.

Charlie Spettigue was having one of his best games for WB'C' . He was using the available space, passed the ball well and had 2 unlucky attempts on goal.

The final whistle went and the boys were ecstatic!! Neil and I were extremely proud of the boys and we had some well-received compliments from the B Team Managers.

We have now started our upward climb and the boys should be very proud of their performance today – keep it up boys!!

Fantastic performance by the whole team – Man of the Match this week is Andrew.
