Wootton Bassett started brightly and a shot from Emily forced an early save by Trowbridge, Sophie J also made a good early attack but as the move broke down Trowbridge counter attacked. A good block by Emma gave Felicity the opportunity to pass to Rosie who surged forward and linked with Emily who scored an excellent goal from the right.

1-0 down Trowbridge came immediately back at Bassett and both Sophie K and Rosie had their work cut out to protect the back line as Trowbridge looked for a way forward. Trowbridge finally got through and forced a way through with Sarah making some good saves and clearances. Rosie was then substituted and Julia came on taking up her position and the game became open with attacking moves from both sides. Unlucky for Bassett off one of the moves the ball rebounded off Sarah and Trowbridge slotted the ball home to make it 1-1.

Both teams were very committed, looking to take advantage before half time and late substitution by Bassett bringing Charlotte on for Sophie K may have given Bassett the advantage; however half was to end evenly.

Adrienne came on in the second half to play midfield and again both teams were committed to attacking and hard tackles were made as both teams were looking for a goal. Unfortunately as Basset were counter attacked Trowbridge squeezed past Emma and Felicity and scored. 2-1down Bassett looked to move forward again with promising attacks but Trowbridge had the ability to counter attack quickly and Bassett had work hard in defence to contain them at times. Bassett worked hard again with some good efforts on goal from Emily, made possible from excellent clearances from Sarah and good passing from midfield but unfortunately Trowbridge broke Bassett again to go into a 3-1 lead.

Bassett however would not give up and continued to look for a goal and late into the match were awarded a penalty off one such attack – but unfortunately the penalty was missed.

Again another gritty and determined performance by Bassett – and the result did not reflect the work put in, keep it up.
