Wootton Bassett without a regular goalkeeper available put striker Trute in goal. But they had much the better of first half display only to be denied any reward by the fine goalkeeping of Pasqualito. Punctuating their attacks was a break by Ferndale in which Thompson beat Trute with a 30 yard shot for what was to prove the winner. The second half was more even with play switching from end to end. Reid, Hatchman and Turner missed chances for Wootton Bassett while Thompson failed for Ferndale and Robinson had a shot cleared off Wootton Bassett's line.
