Spencers out of CupPenalty For Brown

The Wiltshire Times, Saturday 9th September 1950

Spencer Moulton went to Wootton Bassett for their FA Cup game. Only one minute from the kick-off Thompson, the home team's inside-left, had to leave the field with an injury. The visitors attacked and Young had saved from Sherman. The home team rallied, and Newbury was called upon to save twice from Brown. Brown scored for Wootton Bassett after 30 minutes, but the ball quickly changed ends, and Young pulled off a splendid save from Dawson. The equalising goal came with a long dropping shot from Bolwell which completely beat the home goalkeeper. The second half saw a win for Wootton Bassett by 2-1, the deciding goal being scored by Farlie.

The Evening Advertiser, Monday September 4th 1950

"Bob" Brown (penalty) and Farlie scored for Wootton Bassett, who, despite having Thompson (inside left) injured early on, won 2-1. Bolwell obtained Spencer's goal.
