Bassett U17s faced a tough away trip against league leaders Tyrone Mings Phoenix, unfortunately suffering an 8-1 defeat.

After missing last week through illness, Esme Loveday returned to the side and made an immediate impact, converting a great opportunity to get Bassett on the scoresheet. The goal came following a perfectly weighted, pinpoint ball over the top from Eliza, who picked out Esme brilliantly.

Unfortunately, Tyrone Mings proved a difficult opponent, dominating much of the game and showing why they sat at the top of the table. Bassett worked hard and created a few promising opportunities of their own but were unable to take advantage of those chances.

Despite their efforts, the hosts proved clinical in front of goal and went on to secure an 8-1 victory.

Although the result was disappointing, the girls could take positives from Esme's return and the goal created through excellent link-up play with Eliza.

Attention now turned to a crucial home fixture next week against Malmesbury Victoria. The girls would be looking to regroup, learn from the experience and bounce back with a big performance in an important game.
