Bassett U17s faced a tough afternoon at home against Penhill United, eventually going down 1–4 despite a determined performance from the team.

Penhill took the lead after Hannah made an excellent save, but the forward managed to squeeze the ball in moments later. Penhill then capitalised again after some good football to extend their advantage.

Bassett found themselves 3–0 down after switching off, but they responded with a well-taken goal from Amber. She beat the offside trap, raced through on goal and calmly slotted the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper to give Bassett some hope.

Bassett came out strongly after the break and pushed for a second goal, but it was not to be. Penhill continued to apply pressure, with Hannah producing some terrific saves to keep Bassett in the game. Penhill eventually managed to snatch a fourth goal to complete the scoring.

Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance. The girls worked extremely hard all over the pitch and showed improvement in their attitude, performance and overall gameplay.

Hannah was outstanding in goal, making several excellent saves throughout the match. Eliza and Amber worked tirelessly up and down the wings, while Maya put in a solid defensive performance.

Bassett continue to improve week by week, and the team will take the positives from today's performance as they continue to work hard and develop together.

Well done to all the girls for their effort and commitment.
