Bassett come from two down to win on the road

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 12 Girls traveled away to play Allstarz Electra on a cold, wet morning, with manager Martin Jefferies rotating the starting lineup from the Stratton Juniors game.

The starting lineup for Bassett saw Poppy Henderson start in goal with Jess Watkinson coming in to make her debut and partner Mia Ohrland In defence. Sienna Badman came in to centre midfield with Holly Wannell and Leah Jefferies keeping their places in the starting lineup each side of Sienna with the lively Lilly Newman leading the line up front.

Bassett started confidently and created early chances for Holly Wannell and Lily Newman, but unfortunately both were unable to convert.

Allstarz then went into the lead. With Bassett's defence all out of shape the Allstarz's forward finished calmly past Poppy Henderson.

Bassett continue to make chances with Leah Jefferies playing in Daisy Bundy only for a good save from the Allstarz 'keeper keeping out the effort. Allstarz added a second midway through the first half past the unlucky Poppy Henderson.

Shortly after Daisy Bundy got Bassett on the scoresheet with a well taken finish five minutes before half time.

At the break Bassett's coaching team made a change to the team's formation, pushing a midfielder forward to play with a front two, while Holly Wannell took over in goal. The tactical change quickly paid off as Daisy Bundy added her second of the game.

With the game poised at 2-2, Allstarz push forward trying to retake the lead, but strong calm defending from Poppy Henderson, Izzy Davies and Jess Watkinson snuffed out the Allstarz attack.

Daisy Bundy soon added her third with another well taken finish low to the 'keeper's left. Bassett started to dominate the game with player of the match Liv Deverall's energy and work rate being too much for the Allstarz midfield to deal with.

Victory looked to be sealed when Robyn Spencer scored her first goal of the season after some good play by the Bassett midfield.

The scoring was completed late on when Liv Deverall made strong, forceful run down the left hand side of midfield and her pass found Robyn Spencer in space to score her second and Bassett's fifth.

As the final whistle went the Bassett bench ran onto the field to celebrate their first ever victory with the rest of the team mates.
