Royal Wootton Bassett Town Ladies kicked off their Gloucestershire County Women's League Division One campaign with a 1-1 draw at home against Bristol and West Ladies.

Facing the side who finished one place below them in sixth last season, Bassett fell behind when the visitors broke from midfield to score their only goal of the game with what proved to be their only shot of the game.

In a tough battle, the Ladies played some good football, but looked sluggish, which was surprising after such a good pre-season which saw them record three wins from three games.

They dominated possession for most of the game, but left things late to gain their first point of the season, equalising courtesy of a Laura Jefferies free kick.
