Not Bassett's day

After the highs of their opening game Wootton Bassett suffered the lows of defeat in their latest match at home against Wroughton.

From the early moments in this match it became evident that it was not to be Bassett's day as they struggled to contain the better passing and tackling of the opposition, though it is to the team's credit that they tried to match Wroughton and through hard work managed to keep in touch trailing 3-1 at half time.

The second half saw a Wootton Bassett rearguard action as Wroughton pressed the Bassett team into several errors which more often than not resulted in goals against. The Wroughton boys created chance after chance and Chris Smith in goal for Bassett managed to pull off a string of fine saves limiting the score to 1-6. this looked like being the final score when the home side made a late rally finishing with a goal mouth scramble which resulted in a goal making the score 2-6.

Wootton Bassett must take heart from the fact that they kept trying to play passing football and the more they play the more they will learn.
