Presley wins yet another prize as Hopkins and Ouldridge are honoured

Alfie Presley picked up yet another player of the year with mercurial midfielder Tommy Ouldridge and young starlet Finn Hopkins also claiming prizes, as Royal Wootton Bassett Town Men's First Team held their end of season presentation to celebrate the 2024-25 season.

Under the guidance of now former manager Sam Collier, Bassett claimed seventh place in the Hellenic League Premier Division - their third consecutive top half finish, while also reaching the semi finals of both the Wiltshire Premier Shield and Hellenic League Marsh Challenge Cup.

Key to that success was Alfie Presley, who led Bassett with 27 goals - including 22 in the league, making him the joint-top scorer in the Hellenic Premier. And Presley earned the Manager's Player of the Year award for his outstanding performances.

Underlining his status as isone of the most talented players to pull on a blue and yellow shirt in a long time, Presley's prize was the fifth Player of the Year award he has picked up, having previously collected the Manager's and Players' Player awards in 2019-20 and Supporters' Player of the Year in 2022-23 and 2023-24.

Bassett's leading appearance maker in 2024-25 after featuring in 47 games, midfielder Ouldridge earned this year's Players' Player of the Year award. Playing in a deeper-lying position compared to previous years, Ouldridge formed a dynamic tandem with Jack Hobson-McVeigh, helping Bassett dictate a number of games. Ouldridge also chipped in with four goals and a number of key assists.

Hopkins, a supremely gifted young attacking midfielder who, with his skill and pace, proved extremely difficult to defend against, joined them in picking up an award.

Hopkins was named Supporters' Player of the Year following an outstanding debut season with Bassett. He scored six goals and created numerous others in 45 appearances - 36 of which were starts.
