Youth football finalists

A remarkable achievement by Wootton Bassett Football Club youth team is not only their place at the top of Division Two of the Mid-Wilts Under-17 Youth League, but their defeat of Division One Champions Warminster, to become cup finalists!

The Wootton Bassett lads' 3-1 victory on Sunday, reflected their superb teamwork, and delighted Club Secretary Mr Les Dixon. He paid tribute to team manager Glyn Lewis, captain David Alstowe and linesman David Hanks, who has officiated for the youth team throughout its first season.

It is hoped that supporters will go to Melksham Town's ground (3pm) this Sunday to encourage Wootton Bassett in the final against Ludgershall, Division One runners-up.

Last Sunday, Warminster scored first, about 20 minutes into the game, but J. Freeth equalised for Wootton Bassett before half-time. About 25 minutes into the second half, G. Large put Wootton Bassett ahead, and he scored the third within six minutes of the final whistle.
