A 13 goal thriller with a great comeback

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 12 Yellow were involved in a 13 goal thriller in the preliminary round of the U12 NWYFL League Cup.

Due to a very sluggish start from Bassett, Lambourn found themselves 4-0 up in a short period of time. RWB then began to start to play football and come into the game and scored through Ronnie Silk. Lambourn ensured they finished the first half with a four goal advantage just before the half time whistle.

The second half then started as the first ended with Lambourn increasing their lead to 6-1.

This is when the fight back started when through goals through Alex Roberts (2) and a further three goals from Ronnie Silk, RWB managed a superb fightback to make the score 6-6 with around four minutes to go.

Lambourn snatched the victory with around one minute to go though to make it 7-6.

The way the Yellows came back from being 6-1 is testament of their determination and great team spirit which bodes well for the whole season ahead. The team were disappointed at the end but should be able to hold their heads up high.
