Five star Reserves finish season in style

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Reserves ended their season with a bang as they thrashed Vale of Pewsey 5-1.

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Reserves finished their season in great style, defeating Vale of Pewsey 5-1 in a totally dominant display at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground.

It was a case of Groundhog Day though as once again Bassett conceded the first goal. Yet they went on to show what they are capable of by scoring five for the third time in the last six home games.

Veteran Rich Clark started the comeback within minutes of the hosts going behind and he netted twice more before half time - one a penalty - to grab a first half hat trick and give Bassett a two goal cushion at the break.

Playing into a strong wind in the second half potentially could have caused Bassett problems. But in a superb demonstration of passing football this did not materialise.

Despite having a handful of chances, only two were converted through Carl Shepherd and Scott Walduck, who finished off a lovely team move with a firm header to complete a resounding 5-1 win and clinch Bassett's best result of the season.

Regarding the season overall, after a sluggish and erratic start the last few games have shown what the team is capable of and there is every reason to look forward to next season's campaign with renewed confidence.
