Bassett beat previously unbeaten Derry Hill

Bassett playing against a so far unbeaten Derry Hill side on an early Saturday morning 9:30 kick off at Ballards ash. Bassett took centre and showed there intent straight away in the first minuet Tegan Buchanon getting in a good position firing a hard and low shot just wide of the target with the Derry keeper well beaten. Bassett started well with Derry Hill looking half a sleep but not able to capitalise on this.

After ten minuets Derry Hill came to life with a good run down the Bassett right side by Emily Blog leaving two players in her wake but firing her shot into the side netting.

Within a minute the same player shooting from distance making Samantha wood to push this effort around the post for a corner. The game was now very even with Bassett trying to pass there way to goal .One such move was a fine waited pass by charlotte Burke splitting the Derry defence for Joni Warner to run in on goal only to be denied by a fine save. Derry countered this with another Emily Blog run this time beating 3 Bassett players and then driving a shot across goal but wide. From the goal kick taken short by Samantha Wood to Tegan Buchanon passed on to the hard working Joni Warner who in turn found Charlotte Burke to fire a shot just over the bar. With half time approaching a goal from Joni Warner whom managed to hold off two defenders challenges turn and shot finding the corner of the net. Half time 1:0 Bassett

Second half started with Derry Hill looking dangerous through Emily Blog only being stopped with some last ditch tackles. After 10 mins of pressure from Derry Hill, Amy Terry found herself in front off goal but failed to get any power in her shot that was on target. After that scare Emily Blog finally got herself a much-deserved goal with a fine run and shot. The scores were only level for 3mins when Joni Warner half volleyed an up and under from the half way line, which caught the Derry Hill keeper off her line the goal being a little bit lucky. With time now running out Derry Hill were piling forward and leaving gaps at the back. Bursting runs turning defence to attack by Charlotte Burke was relieving some pressure for Bassett. From one such run a corner was won taken by Rebbeca Packwood low into the box turned in by Joni Warner for a hattrick. Only one more chance created in the game with Samantha Wood, Bassett keeper making a well-timed feet first challenge on Emily Blog . Final score 3:1 Bassett
