This defeat must have been a disappointment to Dave Warren, and followers of Bassett. Without Paul Davis, Dominic Machel Kevin Flavell and Gary Ashford they had enough chances to win or at least get a point from this game.

Bassett started off well and with Newton getting down the left his crosses were causing Juniors problems. Particularly for keeper Spencer. But as of recent games nobody on hand to finish them off. Juniors started to get together after 15 mins and played some nice football. One good move saw Read in the Bassett goal make a superb one handed save from a goal bound shot from Symonds.

From now on the game flowed from end to end and on 30 mins Bassett should have scored. A fine run by Newton saw his cross reach John Davis who miscued only for the ball to fall at the feet of Hyde. To everyone's amazement he lifted it over the bar from 3 yards out. The half ended in stalemate.

Bassett were still in the dressing room when Pegasus took the lead on 46 mins. The best move of the game saw Bassett's right side opened up and Martin Powell slipped the ball under the advancing Read

Bassett came back at Juniors and Hyde once again from a similar position as in the first half squandered the opportunity. Simon Green then had a free header at a corner but failed to hit the target and then from the next corner Hyde headed against the upright It just wasn't going to be Bassett's day.

Juniors clinched the game with a controversial and hotly disputed goal. Lawrence Smith in challenging for the ball and kick it in the face of the oncoming Juniors forward. Amazingly Mr Coleman on the line flagged for a corner. From the resulting kick Phil Bevan scored the second and killer goal. You cannot get 2 goals back in 2 mins, only if you have the luck that wins lotteries.
