Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 13 Girls took on FC Chippenham Youth Blue Devils on Saturday - and it was crucial that the girls got another all-important win in the North Wilts League Division One title race.
And Bassett did just that, winning 2-0.
The Blues piled pressure on the defence from start to finish, intercepting goal kicks and winning the ball in dangerous areas.
Bassett had lost a few key players due to injury, but that didn't stop them putting on a great performance.
Christina Croft pounced on a defensive mistake and slotted the ball home, bagging an early goal for the team.
Bassett didn't stop there and created chance after chance, even hitting the post, but couldn't manage to find the back of the net.
The team went into half time knowing that they needed to get further ahead against this strong Chippenham side, who had a solid striker who looked threatening.
Chippenham created more chances in the second half, but Bassett were on top of them, making sure they didn't break through.
The girls sealed the win with another great finish from Christina, taking the ball round a defender and placing it bottom corner.
The game finished 2-0, and every girl played their part and battled hard.
Player of the match went to Tia Campbell, who stepped up in defence and denied the Chippenham strikers any time on the ball. Well done, Tia, for a fantastic performance!
The Under 14s suffered a defeat away over the weekend to Tyrone Mings Youth Hurricanes, who currently top the Division One table.
It was clear that the game was going to be tough from the start, but Bassett held their own and started strong.
Alisa Allan and Sienna Matthews came close to scoring, despite being put under pressure, but couldn't manage to find the back of the net.
Tyrone Mings, however, were also on the attack, but keeper Chloe Parkin pulled of some good saves to keep the score level.
Unfortunately, a poor goal kick forced the Bassett defence to make a challenge in the box, which resulted in a penalty for the home side. Tyrone Mings converted, putting Bassett a goal down.
The Blues went into the second half determined to equalise. The girls were able to create further opportunities and got their shape back, although they didn't find the game-changing goal that they'd been hoping for.
Tyrone Mings grew in confidence and were causing problems for Bassett down the left wing. Eventually, they got their second goal of the match.
Elise Dart was prominent in attack for the Blues and earned a free kick at the edge of the box. She stepped up to take it and, devastatingly, saw her shot hit the post.
After that the game took a turn and Bassett conceded another two goals.
It was a disappointing morning for the Under 14s as the game finished 4-0.
Chloe and Sienna picked up player of the match each for great performances.
An unlucky loss for Bassett, better luck next time.
The Under 16s faced Purton Kingsdown Phoenix for the second week in a row on Saturday, this time at home.
Sadly, the away side came out victorious, but the Blues still put up a fight.
Bassett had a tough first ten minutes and conceded two early goals, but the girls had a great attitude and kept believing in themselves.
Both teams were evenly matched in the second half, with Bassett creating opportunities to score.
However, they just couldn't manage to convert, and in the end, it was Purton who found the back of the net, sealing a 3-0 win.
The girls should be proud of themselves as they didn't give up and worked hard.
Player of the match went to Letti, who was outstanding in several different positions, and a shout-out goes to keeper Mia, who was also great.
