Chippenham Too Strong

Chippenham entertained the new club on Saturday. The visitors showed very good form, but Chippenham with a re-arranged team, proved too good for them. Langford, the old player, took his place at back. Leighfield was between the posts, a young player, Escott, was tried at right half and proved a success, the old right half, Weston, taking the place of Pinfield (who is indisposed) at centre half. Tadd, the new centre, played brilliantly, scoring three out of the four goals, and Bromley secured the second with a long shot which sent the ball into the corner of the net. Wootton Bassett had two very fine backs, and against a less powerful defence the forwards would have given consdierable trouble. The game resulted in a victory for Chippenham by 4 goals to 2. Mr E. Daniels (Swindon) was the referee.
