In a largely one sided affair Royal Wootton Bassett Town Over 50s were given a football lesson by reigning champions Witney Royals. The visitors romped to a nine-two win with ex Oxford United and Nottingham Forest star Chris Allen a class apart.
Witney were two up early courtesy of two close range goals and although Mike Rouse pulled one back with a slide rule effort, it failed to knock the confident visitors out of their stride. They struck four times more to go in at the break 6-1 ahead. All their goals were clinically taken from close range and Bassett simply could not cope with their slick pass and move approach play and deadly finishing
The home team did put up a more spirited showing in the second period and were rewarded with a tidy low finish by Steve Lynch. However Witney managed three more of their own in similar fashion to their six pack from the opening half and coasted to a comfortable victory
Man of the Match: Ian Mitchell - tried manfully to stem the tide with some great tackles and headers in the centre of defence.
