Dogged performance from Bassett Under 12's

Very dogged performance by the lads this week. We knew a win would put us clear in third spot and to be honest, we never looked like conceding a goal today. After a somewhat edgy first 20 mins, Bassett got into their stride and started stroking the ball around. In a manner we are accustomed to, Sean and Oli were getting wide and causing their wing backs all sorts of problems. Central midfield took up the challenge and controlled the game now. Half time 0-0.

After a rousing half time talk, the boys responded almost straight away with a lovely move ending in a cross from Oli that was poked in the net by Vince. One-way traffic now but had it not been for some astute defending by Stratton, the contest would have been over long before the end. As it was, it took till three mins from time to seal the win. We brought on Rhys Jones and James Lowndes to give Adam Topping and Oli a much-earned rest. Almost immediately, James took the ball out of defence, up past halfway and put a lovely pass through to John, who after threatening to score for about 10 games, finally nailed one!!!

Man of the match difficult this week. Good all round but just edging it….. Vince(Fowler) Tapster. Yet another goal but never say die attitude once again from Vince.
