Bassett went into this game again missing key players including top scorer Harry Fitzwilliams, but put in a spirited performance. Bassett actually took the lead when Matt Honeyset scored from a free kick on the edge of the box after just five minutes. The home side equalised after 10 minutes but Bassett thought they had regained the lead when a shot went just over and into the side netting. With Bassett having gone so close the home side went straight down the other end to score and put themselves 2-1 in front at the break. Bassett continued to play well but could not turn possession into goals and the home side made sure of all three points from the penalty spot midway through the half.
