Young "A" Side Go Out at Semi-Final Stage

Swindon Eagles proved too strong for a gallant young Wootton Bassett A side in the semi-final of the Fountain Trophy's Junior Cup, running out winners by 5-2. Dave Levett put the Eagles in front early in the game after a mistake by the Bassett keeper. Wayne Petrie added a second from a Gary Hogg cross shortly after, with Hogg scoring a third just before the break. Soon after the re-start Levett lobbed the keeper for a fourth, the goal sparking off a spirited revival by the young Bassett side, who scored twice through Jimmy Hughes. However, Gary Hogg steadied the ship by adding a fifth for the Eagles to ensure them a place in the final.
