The 2024-25 Hellenic League Premier Division season may only be coming towards the end of its second month, but Royal Wootton Bassett Town are already set for their fifth derby of the campaign when Cirencester Town visit the Sustain Stadium on Tuesday evening (7.45pm kick off).
Pitting Bassett against a side who have found the going somewhat tough after their voluntary relegation from the Southern League, the game will be the first competitive meeting between the teams' first XIs since the 1990-91 Hellenic League Division One season.
Six league encounters from 1988 to 1991 yielded just one win, three draws and two defeats for Bassett. And Bassett's league record against Cirencester's Academy and Development teams was pretty meagre too with six defeats and only two wins in eight league games.
Bassett will therefore hoping to improve on that historical record as they reacquaint themselves with local rivals - and the club who served as Bassett's landlords for two seasons (2013-14 and 2014-15) while the new Gerard Buxton Sports Ground was being developed.
Admission on Tuesday is £8 for adults, £5 for concessions and free for RWBTFC youth members.
