Midweek preview: Bassett target Raiders double

Sunday 25th February 2024

The final stretch of Royal Wootton Bassett Town's Hellenic League Premier Division campaign begins on Tuesday with the first of Bassett's five remaining home games against Worcester Raiders (Sustain Stadium, 7.45pm kick off).

And Sam Collier and his team will be aiming to start that run by completing a double over their opponents after goals from Tommy Ouldridge and Alfie Presley earned a come from behind, 2-1 victory at Sixways Stadium back in January.

Raiders may no longer harbour strong hopes of a playoff finish. But they will represent a fierce test for Bassett - whose final slate of games (which also features clashes with the division's top two, Worcester City and Corsham Town, playoff contenders Fairford Town, Slimbridge and Cinderford Town as well as bogey side Brimscombe and Thrupp) is as tough as they come.

Admission on Tuesday is £7 for adults, £4 for concessions and free for RWBTFC youth members.

Also this week the Under 18s play a rare leap day fixture at home against local rivals Calne Town on Thursday (Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, AGP).

It should be a good one as the teams jostle for position in the Wiltshire League Floodlit Division.

Admission on Thursday is £4 for adults, £2 for concessions and free for RWBTFC youth members.
