Weekend preview: Men aim for Swans double as Women return home

Tuesday 6th February 2024

Another week, another game against a Hellenic League Premier Division playoff contender: Saturday sees Royal Wootton Bassett Town's Men's First Team face a stiff test away against Slimbridge (3pm kick off).

And Sam Collier and his team will be aiming for a season double over the Swans after a come from behind 2-1 victory in what was Bassett's opening league fixture of the season.

To do that though Bassett will have to do something they have never done before - win away at Wisloe Road. Four previous league visits have all ended in defeat with Bassett scoring just a single goal back in October 2004.

Sunday then sees a first home fixture in close to two months for the Women's First Team when they entertain Weymouth in the South West Regional Women's Football League Division One Eastern (Sustain Stadium, 2pm kick off).

The game represents the first ever meeting between the teams.

Admission on Sunday is £4 for adults, £2 for concessions and free for RWBTFC youth members.

Also this weekend the Development team visit Wiltshire League Premier Division title contenders for a second successive week as they travel to Kintbury Rangers (2.15pm kick off).

The teams played out a thrilling 4-4 draw at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground in December.

There's also Friday night action as the Under 18s visit Kingsdown Lions in the Wiltshire League Floodlit Division (8pm kick off).

After a 1-0 league defeat and recent 3-1 cup loss, Bassett will be seeking to finally get one over Kingsdown this season.
